Ingredients

For the Patty:

  • 500g Lean ground turkey A lighter alternative to beef, turkey provides a good source of protein without excess fat. The lean meat keeps the patty juicy without being heavy.
  • ½ cup Oats Used as a binding agent, oats add fiber and help the patty stay together. They’re also a great way to keep the recipe gluten-free if using certified oats.
  • 1 Egg (1 large) Eggs bind the ingredients, helping the patties hold their shape while cooking.
  • 1 Onion (1 small, finely chopped) Onions provide sweetness and moisture to the patties, enhancing the turkey’s natural flavor.
  • 2 Garlic (2 cloves, minced) Fresh garlic gives the patties a robust, savory taste.
  • 1 tbsp Paprika Adds a mild warmth and depth of flavor to the patties.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for seasoning and enhancing the other ingredients.

Toppings and Sauce

  • Avocado slices Avocado adds a creamy texture and healthy fats that balance the lean turkey.
  • Tomato slices Fresh tomatoes offer juiciness and a touch of acidity.
  • Spinach leaves A nutrient-dense alternative to lettuce, spinach adds vitamins and minerals.
  • Red onion rings Raw red onions provide a crisp, slightly pungent flavor.
  • Sprouts (optional) Alfalfa or broccoli sprouts bring a fresh, slightly nutty taste and added crunch.

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt Creamy and high in protein, Greek yogurt is the base of our sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard Adds tang and sharpness to the sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Honey A touch of sweetness that rounds out the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice Brightens up the sauce with acidity.

Instructions

Preparing the Patty Mix

  • In a large bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, oats, egg, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently using your hands or a spatula, ensuring the ingredients are evenly distributed. Be careful not to overmix to keep the patties tender.

Shaping the Patties

  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Using your hands, form each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  • Heat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium heat. Lightly oil the surface with a small amount of olive oil or cooking spray. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, until they are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Set the cooked patties aside.

Mixing the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth and set aside.

Building the Burger

  • Toast the Buns:Toast your favorite healthy burger buns (whole-grain, gluten-free, or low-carb) until golden and slightly crisp on the edges.
  • Spread the Sauce: Spread a layer of the prepared sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
  • Assemble the Toppings: Place a patty on top of the sauce, followed by avocado slices, tomato, spinach, and red onion. Add the sprouts if you’re feeling fancy!
  • Top It Off: Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger and press gently.
